Coast sushi restaurant returning, and new tavern for gamers is on the way to prime spot

It’s been a year since a fire closed Hana Sushi & Pho in Biloxi and now an action restaurant is coming to that building and Hana is reopening at a new location.

“Many of our belongings were damaged in the fire, so starting from scratch,” the owner of Hana posted on Facebook, and plans to announce the reopening date and new location soon.

The restaurant that combined Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine on one menu opened in 2019.

The building, at 2667 Pass Road at the corner of Eisenhower Drive in Biloxi, a few blocks from Edgewater Mall, is getting a total renovation.

It will reopen as The Adventurer’s Tavern, a place where people of all ages can play their favorite games, be it pinball, Dungeons and Dragons or Play Station 5.

What to expect

“It is definitely going to be a geek bar and grill,” said Chad Leitenberger, who retired from the Biloxi Fire Department last February after working there since 1995.

A gaming restaurant has been a dream for he and his daughter, Shaii Ledger, for about five years, he said.

They hope to open in August with tabletop games, group and individual game consoles and some arcade games, where people can play Fortnight and other popular games.

“There will be plenty of events and contests on a regular basis, and even some weekly Geek specials,” the website says. Gamers will feel comfortable dressing the part as they play their favorite games, he said.

Food and craft beer

Leitenberger said they’ll make their own craft beer and the menu, which he expects to have ready in June, will feature hand-held food like grilled cheese, pizza and quesadillas.

It will be a smoke-free business, he said, since children will be allowed earlier in the day and evening.

Around 9-10 p.m., the place will shift to a 21-plus tavern.

For those who become regulars and don’t want to cart around their gaming equipment, cubicle lockers will be available for rent.

This building is in the same shopping center where Picklr indoor pickleball center is coming to Biloxi. Drew Brees, former New Orleans Saints quarterback, is one of the investors in the company.
