Coast Union, Lopez, Pacific View high schools celebrate Class of 2024 graduates. See photos

Graduation season is in full swing, with a number of San Luis Obispo County high schools holding commencement ceremonies mid-week.

First, Pacific View Academy — Lucia Mar Unified School District’s online academy — celebrated the achievements of its graduates during a ceremony on Tuesday, followed by Lopez High School in Arroyo Grande and Coast Union High School in Cambria on Wednesday.

More graduations were planned throughout the rest of the week, with the county’s remaining high schools holding ceremonies through Saturday.

Pacific View Academy and Lopez High School

Lucia Mar Unified School District’s two alternative high schools held commencement ceremonies this week, honoring the achievements of a collective 121 graduating students.

On Tuesday, Pacific View Academy held a ceremony for its 44 graduates that included speeches from Principal Jennifer Bowen, valedictorian Zoe Baldwin and salutatorian Trystan Deneuve.

Of the graduates of the online academy, 14 are expected to attend Cuesta College next year, five will attend Alan Hancock Community College, five will go on to four-year universities, two will enter trade programs and two will go into the military, Lucia Mar district spokesperson Amy Jacobs told The Tribune.

On Wednesday, Lopez High School held its own ceremony, honoring its 77 graduates.

The ceremony included speeches from Principal Jennifer Bowen, valedictorian Aubriella Stromsoe and students Emma O’Hagan and Kira Westfall. Class salutatorian was Kelan Mawhorter.

The majority of the graduating students, 31, anticipate enrolling at Hancock College in the fall, according to Jacobs, while 25 will attend Cuesta College, three will go on to trade schools and two plan to join the military.

Coast Union High School

Coast Union High School celebrated the achievements of 30 graduates from the Class of 2024 in its commencement ceremony Wednesday.

The Cambria high school held its graduation ceremony in the school’s gym Wednesday afternoon.

The ceremony included speeches from Principal Edward Arrigoni, salutatorian Condee Seed and valedictorian Brandon Diaz, as well as farewell speeches by Zahair Melendrez, Emma Wharton, David Ramirez and Hatzumy Ramirez.
