Copenhagen’s Coolest Accessory - Knitted Hoods Dominate Street Style At Fashion Week
Copenhagen Fashion Week has long been a barometer for directional street style, and this season has been no exception. A natural evolution of the balaclava trend that has been bubbling up for seasons, these snug, face-framing accessories were everywhere – crocheted, ribbed or plushly padded – adding a layer of both mystery and practicality. Styled with oversized faux fur coats, sharp tailoring or playful bursts of colour, the cute bonnet-like accessories added a playful functionality to outfits on the brisk streets.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen knitted hoods. Last February, hoods became the unlikely breakout trend of the season, as seen in the AW24 collections of Simone Rocha, Molly Goddard and Moncler Grenoble. Traditionally as a key styling piece when on the slopes or in sub-zero climates, the humble knitted hood has become a city winter dressing must-have.
The accessory's popularity, speaks to a broader shift towards practicality in fashion – where form meets function in the most aesthetically pleasing way. Whether in muted neutrals or dopamine-bright hues, this piece has proven its versatility, making it an essential addition to every winter wardrobe.
So, is the knitted hood here to stay? If Copenhagen’s style set has anything to say about it, the answer is a resounding yes. Fashion has spoken: staying warm has never looked so cute.
