Costco Is Opening More Sushi Counters Across The U.S.
It was less than a year ago when it was announced that Costco would begin testing a fresh sushi counter at its flagship warehouse in Issaquah, Washington. Well, it turns out that those California Rolls and Spicy Salmon Rolls are going over pretty well, because more Kirkland Signature sushi counters are on the way.
Today reports that news of the sushi counter expansion was confirmed by Costco CFO Richard Galanti during the company's Q2 earnings call on March 7. Galanti applauded the store's sushi program and revealed that counters are heading to two additional locations in the very near future.
"The sushi program has proven to be a category where we can be successful in both quality and price, and we’re looking forward to seeing more of that in the future," he said during the call.
Word of the sushi expansion has mostly been met with a hungry excitement from those on social media.
"I can't wait to eat a Costco sized serving of Kirkland Sushi," one person on X wrote in response to the news.
In the Reddit post that was made last year announcing the sushi counter at the Costco in Issaquah, users offered their thoughts on the store's sushi.
"Got one pack of nigiri (tuna, shrimp, salmon, 12 pieces) and a spicy tuna roll (like 14 pieces). Both very good! WAY better than typical pre-packaged stuff," one person wrote.
Another user, who sampled sushi from the counter at a Costco location in Hawaii, wasn't incredibly impressed.
"Unfortunately it’s similar to other grocery store sushi. Have it in Hawaii," they said.
As of now, it's unclear what Costco locations the sushi counters are headed to and when they'll open. But keep in eye out for one at your local Costco.
