As if shrinkflation wasn't bad enough, it's now putting a damper on the holiday season with its latest victim. For many Costco shoppers, the warehouse's peppermint bark is a must-have for the holidays. It's minty, chocolate-y, and heavy on the festive flair. And apparently, it's also a lot smaller than what it once was.

Across TikTok, users are claiming that the beloved peppermint bark has been struck by shrinkflation. In one viral video, a woman was left in shock after opening a pack of the popular item only to find nearly paper-thin pieces of the $15 peppermint bark.

"It was never like this before...It used to be big a** pieces. I used to not be able to break it like that...This should be like $8," she explains. (She does go on to take a bite and confirm that it's still "delicious," so there's that.)

A number of people in the comments pointed out that not only was the peppermint bark thicker in past years, it was cheaper.

"Naw 2021 it was only $9.99. That's the crazy part," one TikToker asserts.

For those who may be shrinkflation doubters, you can view older videos of the Costco peppermint bark to see if there's a noticeable difference in size. One particular TikTok from 2020 has seen an influx of comments from people comparing the peppermint bark to the new video of the item.

"Who here is from the 2024 video of Costco’s peppermint bark?" one user asked.

Although the verdict is still out on whether or not this year's peppermint bark is actually thinner, most people agree that the packaging is smaller.

"The packaging is way bigger here," read a recent comment on the TikTok from 2020. The comment went on to receive well over 100 likes.

I meannn, you can always just make your own peppermint bark.
