Courteney Cox Shares swimsuit Video as She Braves Cold Plunge
If you can't imagine anything worse than braving a cold plunge, don't stress it. Even the most dedicated of polar bears struggle from time to time—as Courteney Cox's latest Instagram proves.
The actor is known for her love of cold plunges. It's one of several habits she's incorporated into her wellness routine (which includes hanging out in her infrared sauna with pal Jennifer Aniston).
But even Courteney gets cold feet about the whole thing sometimes—quite literally.
In her latest "photo dump" on Instagram, the Friends alum shared a video captured ahead of one of her plunges.
"Is this cheating?" the star joked, sporting a swimsuit and pair of socks as she readied herself to take a dip. "Your feet get really f**king cold," she admitted.
Courteney previously told Glamour she dreads the plunges ahead of time but thanks herself afterwards.
"I thought I would never do a cold plunge. I thought I would hate it, but I love it so much. I feel great for hours afterward. So as much as you dread getting in, you know that you're going to feel so good." she revealed.
According to Bupa and various studies, exposure to cold water may help to reduce inflammation, improve risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and improve general well-being.
However, the evidence isn't clear-cut. Most importantly, as Bupa GP Dr Samantha Wild explains, "cold water puts your body under stress", meaning immersion "can be dangerous, and even fatal for some people."
People with underlying health conditions may be at higher risk; so if you're keen to give cold water therapy a go it's always best to speak to a GP or trained professional first.
