Crafting Influencer Dies Suddenly After Longtime Illness Became 'More Acute' in Final 3 Months of Life

Popular crafting influencer Donna Jordan has died after living with an illness for several years. Her husband Matt interrupted one of her typical YouTube videos — which was uploaded on Tuesday, March 18 — to announce the tragic news.

During the first 12 minutes of the video, Donna explained how to make and add "drop diamonds" to her quilts, which she made using designs from her brand, Jordan Fabrics. She walked her 703,000 subscribers through the alternative patterns they could make with the diamonds before Matt appeared on screen, halting the tutorial.

"Hi everyone. I'm Matt Jordan, and this video will end right here," he told the camera. He proceeded to share that his wife died on March 14 at around 4 a.m. He added, "Donna has been battling an illness for a few years now, and the last three months it got more acute and she needed more treatments."

Matt continued to detail some of his love story with the deceased quilting expert, beginning with their meeting when they were both 16 years old. At the time, she was already making quilts. "We've been basically working on our craft of fabric and quilting and quilts for about 50 years," he stated in the video, which is titled "Celebration Of Life: Donna Jordan - Drop Diamonds!"

"Donna loved what she did. She couldn't believe she could make money cutting quilts, making quilts and teaching people how to do them. It was such a blessing to her, and I hope a blessing to you all," said Matt. "We just will miss her greatly here."

Later in the video, he showed a photo of their family, including Donna, their daughters Michelle and Monica and their sons James and Peter. Matt expressed his feelings of pride as a father and his gratitude for "such a wonderful family."

Addressing the future of their business, the grieving husband told their fans and followers that Jordan Fabrics — which has nearly 40,000 followers on Instagram — will continue to produce content "of all kinds."

"In the meantime, we will just honor Donna for the person she was," Matt said, becoming emotional. "I'm just so happy and blessed honestly to have her be a part of my life, and I hope you all enjoyed her in your life also."

The YouTube post concluded with a slideshow of photos from Donna's life, including snaps of her working on quilts and posing with her loved ones.
