On the stickiest summer days, who’d wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to purchase a sweat-proof undergarment? I think it would be a challenge to find someone who enjoys sitting in their own perspiration - slip-sliding in the base of their subway seat like the last drips of sugary ice water from a popsicle stick.
With even hotter temperatures to rise, a pair of shorts that dispel sweat and eliminate chafing came to our attention. And of course, world leader in wire-free bras and functional underwear Knix is the company behind them.
After learning about the realities women face after childbirth, founder Joanna Griffiths endeavoured to create a line of beautiful and comfortable Leakproof Underwear, which her brand is now known for. But do her Thigh Saver Shorts live up to the same hype?
A near five star rating and 800 customer reviews aside, we give you the skinny on one of summer’s most popular items below.
Knix Thigh Saver
SHOP IT: Knix, $36 a pair/three pairs for $90
The details
Knix’s Thigh Savers, with their heat-bonded seams, ensure a seamless fit under tight pants or leggings. No underwear lines? No problem.
Technical fabric allows the shorts to conform to your body and sit just below your natural waistline, providing coverage to the mid-thigh with a six inch inseam.
Available in sizes small to XXXL, the Thigh Saver Short comes in beige and black and in a variety of inseams.
Need to knows
In contrast to Knix’s Leakproof Underwear, the cotton gusset liner inside the Thigh Saver Short does not protect against leaks. Be warned: all thigh savers are final sale as well.
If you prefer a hemline that covers less leg, the Shortie Thigh Savers have a four inch inseam and come in five different nude tones in addition to black.
What customers are saying
If you thought it was a challenge to find someone who enjoys sitting in their own perspiration, then try finding a negative review about these shorts.
‘Obsessed!” said one reviewer. “I loved how soft and light the shorts are. They are not a shaper but they kind of hold everything together and they literally saved my thighs.”
Another customer, who specified that the Thigh Saver Short fit true to size, entitled her review “Game changer!”
“These shorts are so soft and thin but do the job so well!” she wrote. “For girls like me with curvy thighs, chafing is a real, painful thing and these shorts saved me!!!”
The verdict
If “summer” is synonymous with “chafe” in your books, then do yourself a favour and scoop up a pair (or three) of these comfortable shorts. They’re all function, no frill.
