Daisy Edgar-Jones first rose to prominence with her breakout role in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney's Normal People back in 2020. She has since starred in the horror comedy film Fresh and Where The Crawdads Sing and is now set to star in the upcoming film, Twisters. Throughout it all, the internet has continuously wondered who the actor is dating.
In the four years since Normal People first premiered, the dating theory which gained the most traction was her apparent romantic relationship with her co-star Paul Mescal. The pair were most recently spotted together at Glastonbury, which sent the internet into a frenzy. For the first time, Edgar-Jones has finally opened up about the reality of their relationship, and fans of the hopeful romance may be disappointed.

In a recent interview with the Sunday Times, the 26-year-old actor shut down the rumours of a romance between her and Mescal, and admitted that she found humour in them. 'You watch with bemusement really, because it’s interesting to see what narratives people write in,' she said. 'Usually they’re quite harmless and when I’m spotted it’s normally just a lot of, "Oh, that’s Whatsherface?" And I say, "It is," she continued.
Ben Seed (2023 – present)
Currently, the actor is dating Ben Seed, a photographer who goes by name of Pip. The couple first confirmed their relationship back in September 2023 after being spotted together, as reported by Daily Mail, although an inside source revealed that they had been dating for much longer. The pair were recently spotted at Glastonbury together, prompting the actor to 'soft launch' their romance soon after.
Another source told The Sun that since they began dating, they had become inseparable, and Edgar-Jones was on 'cloud nine' with Seed. The source further stated how the couple had been getting to know one another, stating: 'They have both had some free time this summer and love hanging out in Broadway Market in East London, just going to bars and spending time together. There’s a real spark there and they are excited about finding each other. They’ve already met one another’s friends.'
Since their first sighting, the couple have kept the majority of their relationship hidden from the public and have only been photographed with one another at events such as the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2024.
The London based photographer previously dating actor Anya Taylor-Joy until they broke things off back in 2021. Seed has worked for major brands such as Prada, Bulgari and Dior. His Instagram page boasts a variety of portraits including the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Golda Rosheuvel, Nicola Coughlan and his girlfriend, Edgar-Jones.
Tom Carey (2018 – 2020)
Prior to dating Seed, the Normal People star was in a relationship with actor Tom Varey, between 2018 and 2020. They met back in 2018 while filming Pond Life, but reportedly broke up due to their respective filming schedules.
During her appearance on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast in 2020, Edgar-Jones spoke about supporting Varey amid talk about her sex scenes in Normal People. 'My boyfriend, actually, he was amazing because what a tricky thing to watch,' she explained.
'He loves the series, thank goodness, that’s something I’m very relieved about, but there was a moment in episode six where he was like, ‘This is a bit weird! Oh, this is weird!’ and we all had to acknowledge that it was a bit weird, and then it was fine.'
