Daisy Edgar-Jones Just Admitted That Her Latest Film Was Inspired By 'The Wizard Of Oz'

It would appear that Wicked fever really has touched all of us this year, after Daisy Edgar-Jones admitted in a recent interview that her latest film Twisters drew inspiration from The Wizard Of Oz.

'There were quite a few nods to Wizard of Oz, which is obviously the kind of most iconic tornado film,' the Normal People actor admitted. 'Obviously, in the original movie, they use a device called Dorothy to measure the tornadoes and we have our own Dorothy in this movie too at the beginning, but also all the storm park cars are called Lion, Tin Man, Wizard.'

'And there are a few Easter eggs in the movie actually, especially if you're a big fan of the original. I didn't really notice this until today, but the little girl in the scene has got a kind of Dorothy nod in her costume,' she added. 'She's got like her little dungarees and her blue gingham shirt, which is really cool, and her shoes were ruby red.'

Edgar-Jones' latest interview comes after rumours began swirling that she will soon be entering her Disney princess era. Variety reported on October 24 that Thor star Chris Hemsworth was being lined up for the titular role of Prince Charming in the upcoming Disney film Prince Charming, while The InSneider reported that Edgar-Jones is Disney's favoured choice to play the princess in the film.

The London-born actor is also following in her Normal People co-star Paul Mescal's shoes and is set to star in a new West End adaptation of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at London’s Almeida theatre. The play, which opens on 10 December 2024 and runs until 1 February, will mark Edgar-Jones' return to the theatre, where she starred in Albion in 2020.
