'Daisy Jones And The Six Fans' Rejoice As Riley Keough Sings At Chanel Show
It's been more than a few seasons since a worthy performer was tasked with taking centre stage at a Chanel show to communicate the message of the house's new mood for the next season.
On Tuesday, however, actor Riley Keough set new ground as she took not to the stage, but to the swing and sung to the audience beneath her at the Grand Palais. The show marked Chanel's first since the storied building's refurbishments were completed.
For anyone watching Keough's performance of Prince's 'When Doves Cry', thoughts will quickly throwback to her character as Daisy Jones in Daisy Jones And The Six. Not only will this be down to her well-inherited dulcet vocals being pulled to the forefront once again but the 35-year-old granddaughter of Elvis Presley's outfit felt in-keeping with her character's bohemian style.
Poised on a swing that was held amongst a large birdcage-like structure, Keough wore a black jumpsuit complete with a cape that swathed over her seat to catch elegantly in the breeze. Add to that the pair of 1970s-like platforms she was wearing and the mood is entirely aligned with not only Chanel's dense style history but the costumes created for Daisy Jones And The Six, too.
You have to wonder: was that Riley Keough as Riley Keough performing, or Riley Keough as Daisy Jones performing? Considering that Keough has a long standing relationship with the house of Chanel, we'll go with the former. The actor and musician starred in its SS24 campaign after all.
Appearing at a Paris Fashion Week show is nothing new for Keough. She made her catwalk debut aged just 14 for Dolce & Gabbana in Milan and walked a Christian Dior show during John Galliano's tenure the very same year in Paris in October 2004.
Since then, however, Keogh's preferred a front-row vantage point becoming a regular attendee at fashion week. This new seat of hers, however, will certainly be hard to beat.
