Dakota Johnson Was a Sexy Spider in Brazil, and It’s My Favorite Look of the Year So Far

Can we start doing Halloween dressing now or do we have to wait for October? Because Dakota Johnson just wore a spooky sexy spider gown and I need it. I need it. I need to have it. I have a black cat and a small tattoo of a crescent moon; this is a dress I need to wear.

Johnson stepped out for the Vogue Brazil Ball in Rio de Janeiro in a mesh gown embellished with crystals to form the pattern of a spiderweb; it's completely see-through, so Johnson added a black thong. She wore the look, obvs, as a nod to her role in Madame Web, the upcoming Spider-Man-adjacent flick costarring Sydney Sweeney. Haven't seen a spider this hot since the one in James and the Giant Peach.

The star's stylist, Kate Young, was kind enough to share some pics:

The dress is a version of the Cobweb Midi-Dress from Annie's Ibiza ($2,373), though hers is customized, as the dress available online is shorter than Johnson's, and doesn't have the cape. You can order a custom one too, according to the brand's Instagram.

The cape is so important to me. Per the website description, the gown “takes inspiration from nature's great seamstress, the spider. The intricate webwork has been hand-crafted with an array of glistening crystals that catch and reflect light, resembling dewdrops on a spider's web in the morning sun.” Spiders are the seamstresses of nature! So true.

The Fifty Shades star has recently been the self-appointed president of the exposed-panties trend, recently rocking the look to an SNL after-party.

Dakota Johnson also opened up about her beauty secret, which can be explained in a single word: naps. “If I’m not working, if I have a day off on a Monday, then I will sleep as long as I can. Sleep is my number one priority in life,” she said. This is honestly so spidery of her. Spiders just make sticky houses and wait for their food to come get caught. Spiders get it.
