This Dallas-Fort Worth suburb is No. 5 in the country, according to ‘Travel + Leisure’

North Texas is full of suburbs, but one in particular is getting national attention.

Travel + Leisure just ranked Coppell, a town in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, as the No. 5 best suburb to live in America. Not only that, Coppell was also ranked on the list as the second-best place to live in Texas and No. 3 for public school systems in Texas.

“Suburbs are a quintessentially American concept,” Travel + Leisure said in its report. “Today, half of all Americans live in suburbs of different densities, driven by rising costs in cities plus a desire for more space and a laid-back lifestyle.”

Travel + Leisure determined its rankings based on feedback from expert realtors and recent livability rankings. The list narrows down suburbs that are the best for affordable housing, top-rated schools, and excellent job opportunities.

“Johns Creek consistently ranks as one of the area’s best and wealthiest communities, with a median household income of more than $130,000, with low crime rates, excellent schools and access to many outdoor activities,” Travel + Leisure said.

Texas sees itself on the list twice with Coppell, at No. 5, and with Cinco Ranch at No. 2. Cinco Ranch is a suburb of Houston, about a four-hour-and-15-minute drive from Fort Worth. It was also rated as the No. 1 best place to live in Texas.
