Dan Levy and Julia Chan to host the ‘The Great Canadian Baking Show’

Britain’s hit baking show is getting the Canadian treatment! The Great Canadian Baking Show is set to debut on CBC this fall and the network has recruited some of the country’s top talents to act as hosts. Schitt’s Creek creator and star Dan Levy and Saving Hope actress Julia Chan will oversee the competition series, based on the hugely successful Great British Bake Off.

"The first time I watched The Great British Baking Show, my heart grew three sizes. It's the most joyful, inspiring competition-based reality show on TV and I'm so excited to be a part of the Canadian series," Dan said in a statement, adding that he is a huge fan of the UK show and “actively pursued” the hosting role – particularly on Twitter.

Julia is just as excited and explained that she loves the premise of the show, "I'm absolutely thrilled to be part of The Great Canadian Baking Show. There's nothing quite like watching lovely people truly committed to being great at something — and this show is exactly that," she exclaimed.

Dan and Julia aren’t the only notable names signed on to the series. Stepping into the judges roles made famous by Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood are Vancouver pastry chef Bruno Feldeisen and Montreal’s Rochelle Adonis.

"Baking is all about love and sharing. It makes the world a better place, and I'm honoured to be part of this unique Canadian experience," said Bruno, to which Rochelle added: “It is a dream come true to mentor these amateur bakers.”

According to a statement from CBC, the Canadian installment of the series will bring together “10 amateur bakers from across the country to compete in a series of themed culinary challenges as they celebrate their diverse backgrounds, families and communities.”

The Great Canadian Bake Show will start shooting this week and is set to premiere on Nov. 1.
