Daniel Kaluuya's Mom Is Already the Best Meme at the Oscars

Judas and the Black Messiah star Daniel Kaluuya took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Fred Hampton. And while he did take some time to reflect on Hampton's legacy during his acceptance speech, what he said about his parents is stealing more than its fair share of the spotlight.

Believe it or not, he actually did thank his parents for having sex after he spoke about Hampton and told everyone in attendance — and everyone at home — that there was more to do, referring to the continued fight for social justice. That, however, seemed to be eclipsed by his mother Damalie Namusoke's reaction to being mentioned.

"My mom and my dad ... they had sex — and now I'm here!" he said during his time at the podium. Then, the camera cut to his mom's very confused face

"What's he talking about?" she appeared to say.

"You understand, I'm here. You know what I mean? I'm so happy to be alive," Kaluuya continued, clearly unaware of his mother's reaction. "So I'm going to celebrate tonight. I appreciate everyone in the room, everyone watching at home. You know, peace, love, and onwards, we go again!"

Twitter users, including Issa Rae, caught his mother's reaction. Some couldn't believe that he actually said what he did. Others just wanted to see Namusoke's reaction on repeat.

Kaluuya won the Golden Globe for the same role. Previously, he was nominated for his role in 2017's Get Out. This year's win was his first.

"I gave it everything I had. I gave. I gave. I gave," he told the New York Times.
