Dave Grohl is celebrating his 56th birthday by giving back to the local community affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.

On Tuesday, Jan. 14, Grohl was spotted volunteering for Feed the Streets, a nonprofit organization that is distributing meals to displaced families and inmate firefighters amid the ongoing fires.

In a video shared to their Instagram Stories, Grohl is seen stirring a giant pot of chili alongside fellow volunteers. In a subsequent video, Grohl — who resides in L.A. — is pushing a cart.

This isn't the first time Grohl set time aside to give back. On Super Bowl Sunday in February, L.A. non-profit Hope the Mission shared an Instagram Reel featuring Grohl and his friends barbecuing 70 pork butts for The Woodlands Family Shelter.

"Happy Super Bowl Sunday from @davestruestories and Hope the Mission!" the post's caption read. "Dave and his pals BBQ’d 70 pork butts for 24+ hours 😳 Right now we are here at The Woodlands Family Shelter sharing this delicious meal with our participants. Thank you to Dave and his friends from his studio for hanging out with us and spreading love through a hot meal. #foofighters turned into #foodfighters 😇"

Meanwhile, in December 2023, Grohl took time off the Foo Fighters' tour to volunteer in Melbourne, per Daily Mail.

Grohl volunteered at The Big Umbrella — a street kitchen charity for the homeless — and was serving food for several hours at Melbourne's Federation Square location, per the outlet.

In February 2023, Grohl volunteered to feed the homeless with Hope the Mission and barbecued for 24 hours. A representative at the nonprofit confirmed to PEOPLE that the rocker and some friends cooked more than 500 meals for three shelters in the city.

Since the Los Angeles fires started on Tuesday, Jan. 7, tens of thousands of people have been affected and had to evacuate. Some lost their homes and businesses as a result of the fast-growing flames and high winds, while 25 people have been reported dead.

Grohl's volunteer work comes three months after his shocking announcement that he’d become the father to a baby girl born outside his marriage to Jordyn Blum. In December, a source told PEOPLE they were doing their best to keep their family intact.

“It was just such a shock for Jordyn. Her first instinct was that she wanted a divorce. The betrayal felt too heavy,” the insider said. “But as weeks passed, she got some space to think and it just felt very sad to her if the family would split up.”

Their marriage is "still not in great shape,” the source added at the time, but “they are trying to move forward.”
