Demi Moore wants you to know that it’s okay to fart.

The actress, 61, is collaborating with digestive medicine company Wonderbelly to address the importance of digestive health, as written about in a new book titled An Adult’s Guide to Farts. written by Wonderbelly co-founder Lucas Kraft and illustrated by Jessica Paige Dawson.

In a joint video shared by Moore and Wonderbelly on Instagram on Aug. 1, Moore can be seen reading pages from the company’s new book to her own adult children. “What’s the big stink about?” Moore asks as she reads from the book, which details everything you may need to know about flatulence, including its history, why we do it and the best ways to hide it.

Kraft, who co-founded Wonderbelly with his brother Noah in 2022, tells PEOPLE that he was inspired to launch the company because of his experience with an eating disorder as a teenager. Post-recovery, Kraft relied on over-the-counter antacids to manage his symptoms, and noticed that the medication he used featured ingredients that have been removed from beverages and food and beauty products.

“It's still the same brands that were around for generations and nobody's been challenging these companies to meet the values of a younger generation that is experiencing these issues,” Kraft says. Wonderbelly, per their website, is an over-the-counter solution made with Vegan, non-GMO inactive ingredients.

Moore says that she became aware of Wonderbelly because her daughter Rumer, 35, used antacids throughout her pregnancy.

“When I introduced [Rumer] to Wonderbelly, she loved its effective, flavorful and clean ingredients,” Moore says. “Unlike traditional medicine brands, Wonderbelly offers clean medicine and raises awareness about issues like eating disorders and common bodily functions.” The actress also notes that she learned how vital it is to discuss digestive health with adults, in particular.

“Digestive health is an important yet often taboo topic,” Moore says. “As babies, we're celebrated for bodily functions like pooping and farting, but as adults, we often hide these normal processes. Conversations I had with Lucas, a founder of Wonderbelly, inspired the An Adult’s Guide to Farts book, highlighting that accepting these functions is better for our physical well-being.”

Moore says that she learned a lot about digestive health while collaborating with the company (which also encourages conversation about digestive issues through their “Spill Your Guts” initiative), including the importance of “clean, effective medicine to help support our bellies.” And while An Adult’s Guide to Farts is an educational resource, both Kraft and Moore agree it is also a fun way to embrace what some may view as an embarrassing topic.

“This book for us is a way to further a mission that we have of de-stigmatization and helping people get closer to accepting normal bodily functions,” Kraft says. “We have this big mission around de-stigmatizing issues like eating disorders all the way to farting. There are things that we should be a little bit more comfortable talking about.”

“While the book is funny and light-hearted, it has a message about self-acceptance,” Moore adds. “It’s a read about farts that aims to make readers smile, feel more informed and be less embarrassed about their bodies.”
