Wait, did Ariana Grande just make Crocs cool?
In a time where flip-flop heels have somehow resurfaced, Crocs continue to hold the title as fashion’s most controversial footwear. And while these rubber clogs have made regular cameos on the runways and have had spins with designers like Christopher Kane and Balenciaga over the past few years, these shoes never fail to make us say....well, “Why?!”
Just when we’ve thought we’ve seen every possible Crocs twist, on Tuesday, Ariana Grande updated fans with back-to-back mirror selfies of herself proudly flaunting a questionable ensemble.
In a photo captioned “wanderin n wonderin” and “baby platypus” (who knows why), the 26-year old pop star is seen wearing tube socks and a pair of white original Crocs. In true VSCO girl nature, she sported the look with her signature choice of a baggy sweater and high ponytail.
Not too long after, followers reacted to Grande’s ensemble with surprisingly positive responses.
“Come on Crocs! Now I want a pair,” said one fan.
“My need for Crocs has heightened,” said another who tagged a friend.
And while I wouldn’t typically say these about once take-out-the-trash shoes, I’ll admit, Grande makes them look cute. But aside from aesthetics, whether you love them or hate them, Crocs continue to stay many shopping radars because of its impeccable comfort and versatility,
