Did Julia Fox Just Wear A Skirt Made Entirely Of Men's Boxers?

A crop top and a maxi skirt worn together hardly sound like anything out of the ordinary. But that’s likely because you haven’t yet seen how Julia Fox wears the staples.

This past weekend, the Uncut Gems star was spotted walking through New York City in an unconventional take on this summer’s easiest outfit formula. Rather than wearing just any old maxi skirt, Fox opted for a ruched patchwork piece that appeared to be made entirely out of different pairs of men’s boxers. The strange assortment featured panels of different fabric, including red plaid, grey tartan, and checkered blue. The very top of the skirt even featured the white elastic waistband of a pair of underwear.

Up top, Fox kept the party going. She wore a butter yellow crop top with an ab-baring hemline that hugged the bottom of her bust. It featured long sleeves, a turtleneck, and attached silver nipple piercings.

To complete the look, Fox added a grey nylon zip-up jacket, a long black leather bag, and blue and red pumps.

Fox is no stranger to repurposing mundane materials into new garments. For instance, she dominated headlines last year when she showed up at Fashion Month dressed in a bandeau-and-miniskirt set, both pieces fabricated from belts of various sizes. On another occasion last autumn, Fox headed for a night out in nothing but a plastic garment bag encasing a crisp white button-down (you know, the kind you’d pick up at the dry cleaner’s) wrapped around her torso.

The actor opened up about her avant-garde taste in a 2022 interview with The Cut. '[My publicity team was] like, "Oh, they’re a little too editorial," "It’s too sexy. It’s too provocative. It’s too out there,"' she said. 'I was just like, "Okay, I guess I just have to be more Hollywood and more bland." But f**k that narrative if I want to pop out and wear crazy s**t—which is what I want to wear.'
