Fashion friends, it’s time to lock in because Dr. Martens and MM6 Maison Margiela just released their first collaboration and it's the ultimate edgy new capsule collection. Both of these brands are known for their rebellious, punk-inspired designs and this release—which includes three different footwear silhouettes—is equal parts functional and couture reminiscent. Think sleek, minimal yet impactful boots and loafers that are perfectly in line with fall shoe trends. I know what’s at the top of my holiday wish list this season and it's these traditionally super comfy shoes.
Having debuted earlier this year at Milan Fashion Week as part of MM6 Maison Margiela’s AW24 show, this new line reinvents four best-selling Dr. Martens silhouettes; the iconic 1460 boot, the tall 1490 boot, the 1461 shoe, and the Penton loafer. From this inspiration, three unique hybrid designs (two combat boots and a pair of loafers) were born that feel akin to the styles of both of these beloved labels. The MM6 Maison Margiela x Dr Martens 1460/1461 boot
In a press release, the new MM6 Maison Margiela x Dr Martens 1460/1461 boot is described as “a fusion of the 1460 eight-eye boot and 1461 three-eye shoe.” This short boot has a durable Vintage Smooth leather in oxblood and black Virginia leather that creates a cool contrast in both color and texture. True to Dr. Martens’ signature look, it has a steel toe and a Puritan chain stitch.

The second boot in this collab is all-black and has an extra-tall length that is “reconstructed with a bump toe edition of the 1461 shoe to increase the curvature of the silhouette.” Making it a bit more sleek with its monochromatic finish.

The last (but certainly not least and my personal favorite) is the black Penton loafer that’s been reimagined with subtle additions of oxblood leather and laces from the traditional 1461 shoe peeking out from under.
