Diddy Shows Off His Dazzling Rainbow Rolex Daytona While Receiving the Key to New York City
If you’re ever fortunate enough to be given the key to your hometown you better dress up. And if you’re Sean “Diddy” Combs, that means wearing one of the most dazzling Rolexes out there.
Friday was Diddy Day in New York and as part of the celebration, the rap mogul was presented with the key to the Big Apple by Mayor Eric Adams. And as the Bad Boy Records founder triumphantly held his trophy in the air, a rainbow Rainbow Cosmograph Daytona could be seen dangling from his left wrist.

“I want to thank you all for this honor and just recognizing me being from New York, giving me the Key to the City,” a joyful Diddy told the crowd gathered at Times Square for the ceremony.
It easy to see why the “It’s All About the Benjamins” rapper wore the colorful timepiece on his big day (Friday also saw the release of his new album, The Love Album: Off the Grid). The Daytona is Rolex’s most in-demand model and has been the most coveted watch in the world for a while now. Any Daytona is hard to get, but the Rainbow, Ref. 116598RBOW, might be the most exclusive of them all, according to Bob’s Watches. That’s because it’s an off-catalog model that isn’t even listed on the Swiss watchmaker’s website.
Diddy’s Rainbow looks to be the updated version released in 2018. It has a 40mm case made of 18-karat Everose and which is adorned with 36 baguette-cut sapphires as well as 56 brilliant-cut diamonds. The glitz doesn’t stop there, though, because the black and Sundust dial also features 11 baguette-cut sapphire hour markers. The timepiece is powered by the watchmaker’s Calibre 4130 self-winding chronograph movement and has a 72-hour power reserve. Rounding things out is an Oyster bracelet made from the same material as the case.
It’s little surprise that the Rainbow has proven to be such a hit with celebrities over the years. It’s unclear when Diddy acquired his Daytona, but whenever he did he paid a fair bit for it. The super-rare watch cost $96,900 when it launched but can sell for significantly more on the second-hand market. Fortunately, after more than three decades atop the music world, Diddy can afford it.
