Documentary 'The Grizzlie Truth' Uncovers What Really Happened to the Vancouver Grizzlies NBA Team

There weren't many options in the early '90s if you grew up in Canada and were looking to cheer for a Canadian NBA team. That all changed in 1995 with NBA's expansion into Canada with the Toronto Raptors and the Vancouver Grizzlies. Suddenly, fans were able to see their favorite teams play locally and cheer on their hometown team.

Then came the move of the Vancouver Grizzlies to Memphis in 2001 -- just like that, the number of Canadian NBA teams was halved. A lot of basketball fans were not really sure why but it seemed like the common notion was that the team was just not profitable. Looking to uncover the real truth, filmmaker and Vancouver Grizzlies super fan Kat Jayme has set out to find out what really happened to her beloved hometown NBA team in the documentary The Grizzlie Truth.

The description reads:

In her obsessive quest to find out what really happened to the team and its cult fandom, she unravels the mystery that’s haunted the NBA’s Vancouver Grizzlies fans for 20 years. THE GRIZZLIE TRUTH is a ’true-crime style' story exploring the deep roots of fandom, and an irreverent expose of the wild business of professional sports.
