A dog in a Kentucky animal shelter is in desperate need of a forever home.

Lynch, a young pitbull mix, has ended up at the Paris Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Paris, Ky., three times over the past year and a half.

"Lynch doesn't have the typical sad story you may see us share," a Tuesday, Nov. 26 Facebook post from the shelter's official Facebook page reads, adding that Lynch's story "broke our hearts."

The post details how Lynch first arrived at the shelter as a stray in May 2023. Lynch's owner reclaimed the dog shortly after, but the pup returned to the shelter as a stray in February 2024 and "was never picked up."

A new owner adopted Lynch a month later. However, PAWS said it received a notification on Sunday, Nov. 24, explaining that Lynch had been found abandoned at another shelter about an hour away.

PAWS revealed on social media that Lynch — who was 65 lbs when he was adopted in March 2024 — now weighs only 39.3 lbs.

"Despite the neglect our baby faced in such a short time, he has been the happiest dog to see us, and his tail hasn't stopped wagging," the organization shared.

"Our team is absolutely heartbroken that Lynch ended up in this situation where he was failed by humans. We are giving Lynch lots of love and care while he regains his strength and weight. We KNOW this baby deserves the absolute best now more than ever," the Facebook post continued.

PAWS noted that "the proper authorities have been notified for an investigation" regarding Lynch's neglect.

"Please consider donating to Lynch," the post concluded. "Your donation will help go towards any medical care he will need, high-value food to help gain weight, bedding and toys, and all the love our poor dog could ever ask for."
