Doja Cat’s nude latex lingerie set is a punk take on the naked trend
Whether you're a Millennial or Gen Z, chances are you've worn a Victoria's Secret bra before. At one point, my underwear drawer was solely filled with VS designs, so popular was the brand during its peak. I remember tuning in to watch the likes of Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Barbara Palvin walk the runway as Victoria's Secret Angels during the brand's annual televised fashion show.
Fast forward five-plus years though, and I can't remember the last time I wore – let alone bought – anything from the US lingerie label. Instead, I started shopping at Savage X Fenty and SKIMS, with both Rihanna and Kim Kardashian's brands presenting a more size-inclusive, fashion-forward offering.
But following a four-year hiatus, Victoria’s Secret is returning to our screens since its final televised runway show in 2018 with The Victoria’s Secret World Tour headlined by none other than Doja Cat.
Part fashion show, part documentary, the special introduces 20 global creatives (referred to as the VS20) including Doja Cat who have each collaborated with the brand on ensembles for a newly imagined version of its signature runway show. And thanks to a video and promo pics shared on the Victoria's Secret Instagram, we've gotten a sneak peek at Doja's lewk.
Working alongside the brand's design team and her own creative director, Brett Alan Nelson, Doja created a nude latex bra decorated with sparkling embellishments. The bra is joined with a silver ring at the centre of the waistband, with a miniature silver ring also adorning each cup.
She has on matching nude knickers with see-through tights also embellished with crystals and diamantes worn over the top. Doja completed the 'fit with a floor-length nude latex trench coat covered with safety pins for a punk twist. She wore cream heeled boots laced up the front with satin ribbons on her feet.
Speaking exclusively to Haper's Bazaar, Doja said of her involvement with the project, "Victoria’s Secret has always been such a fun, go-to brand for me since early on, and I love that I can still say that today."
As for her design? "Because the Tour is a celebration of the strength and unique talent of creatives, we really wanted to channel this message through this look,” she said. “I felt so powerful and confident wearing these pieces, which is so important to me."
The Victoria’s Secret World Tour premieres on Prime Video on September 26.
