Dolly Parton Expands Her Ultra-Popular Line of Baking Mixes
Dolly, we will always love you ... and your baking mixes.
Country music legend and all-around icon Dolly Parton celebrated her 78th birthday last Friday, and she apparently spent her special day … by working. "Nothing wrong with working on your birthday if you're getting good stuff done, right?" she told Business Insider. But Dolly also had a couple of gifts for those who love her (which is basically everyone on this planet), announcing the release of four bonus tracks from "Rockstar," her most recent record, and adding a couple of extra flavors to her ultra-popular line of baking mixes.
Parton hard-launched her partnership with Duncan Hines two years ago, releasing two cake mixes and two kinds of frosting, before adding cornbread, biscuit, and brownie mixes last January. And in what's starting to feel like a glorious late-January tradition, she and Duncan Hines just revealed that the Dolly Parton Baking Collection will now include Chocolate Cake Mix, Yellow Cake Mix, and Cinnamon Crumb Cake Mix, along with the new Blueberry Muffin Mix and Banana Nut Muffin Mix. Parton is also making her first jump onto our breakfast tables with the release of her new Buttermilk Pancake Mix. (But let's be honest: chocolate cake can ABSOLUTELY be a breakfast food.)
"I loved co-creating my Duncan Hines line with Conagra, and I'm thrilled we're going well beyond the baking aisle with new items across the store," Parton said in a statement. "We're looking to continue to inspire special moments in the kitchen, with some of my family's favorite recipes, and I think people are really going to love them!"
The new products will be rolling out at supermarkets and other retailers early this year — with more Dolly-branded boxed mixes to come — but if you want to get a first taste, Dunkin Hines is launching a limited-edition Dolly Parton Bake Like a Rockstar kit, which is packed with the new products and a few special keepsakes.
The full kit includes the Dolly Parton Cinnamon Swirl Crumb Cake and Favorite Chocolate Cake mixes, Blueberry Muffin Mix, and Creamy Chocolate Buttercream Frosting. It also comes with a magnet featuring the illustration of Dolly that appears on all of the Duncan Hines' packaging, a Dolly Parton-inspired oven mitt, and a set of recipe cards so you can whip up some of her favorite baked goods.
The official Dolly Parton's Bake Like a Rockstar Baking Collection will be available for the lucky few who have early access at 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday, January 24, and it will go on full sale to everyone just a few hours later, at 3 p.m. EST. The collection is only available to purchase on Duncan Hines' Baking With Dolly website, and each kit costs $40 plus shipping and handling.
What better way to belatedly celebrate Dolly's birthday than by baking yourself a cake?
