Dramatic footage shows lion charging in to collect 'dad tax' from pride

Among the benefits of being a dominant male lion is that you can let others in the pride do the hunting.

The accompanying footage, captured in South Africa’s MalaMala Game Reserve, shows a lion pride successfully ambushing a young impala, only to be forced off the kill just before mealtime. (Best viewed with audio turned on.)

“After successfully catching an impala, this lion pride got a taste of the good old Dad Tax, as their dominant male came and took the whole thing for himself. Looks like they'll need to go find something else to eat.”
