Dua Lipa Brought Back the Ovary Cutout Trend at the 2024 Grammys

The Grammys are Dua Lipa's stage — both literally and figuratively. Sure, the pop star will be taking the mic tonight to perform at least one of her chart-topping hits, much like she's done in years past. But Lipa also steals the show the second she steps onto the red carpet each year — from her Versace butterfly dress to her black-and-white safety pin dress in 2019 (also Versace).

The singer, who is nominated tonight for her song "Dance the Night" from Barbie, shut down the carpet once again — this time, in a custom gown by Courreges. Reviving the ovary cutout trend that she pioneered several years ago, Dua's silver fringed dress featured two tiny slits that sat below each of her hips, as well as an extreme plunging neckline that swooped down to her midsection.

She accessorized with a statement-making Tiffany & Co. white gold and platinum diamond and sapphire necklace and a sparkly cocktail ring, while her glam consisted of loose waves, glossy lips, and shimmery purple lids.

While everyone was hoping for Dua and boyfriend Callum Turner to make their red carpet debut as a couple, instead, the pop sensation brought her dad, Dukagjin Lipa, as her date.

The aforementioned Barbie anthem is nominated in two categories tonight: Song of the Year and Best Song Written for a Visual Media. Lipa is up against some stiff competition in both categories. She'll face off against Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff for "Anti-Hero," Miley Cyrus for "Flowers," SZA for "Kill Bill," Lana del Ray and Antonoff for "A&W," Jon Batiste for "Butterfly," Olivia Rodrigo for "Vampire," and Billie Eilish for "What Was I Made For?"

In the visual media category, her song will go up against Eilish's "What Was I Made For" again, "Barbie World," and "I'm Just Ken" (all from Barbie), in addition to Rihanna's "Lift Me Up" from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Lipa last attended music's biggest night in 2022, to which she wore another, you guessed it, Versace dress. That one featured a leather harness-like top with gold buckles and a chain choker adorned with the designer's signature Medusa motif.

While the gown was certainly eye-catching, it was Lipa's platinum blonde hair that really caught our attention. During the show, Lipa presented an award alongside her pal and collaborator Megan Thee Stallion.
