Duchess of Cambridge pairs Chanel bag with houndstooth coat on day two of Sweden tour
Yesterday, the Duchess of Cambridge caused a flurry of activity on the Mulberry site after carrying a tote from the British label’s new-season collection while out and about in Stockholm.
And today we predict a similar style stampede. The 36-year-old royal was photographed with some serious arm candy – a quilted, maroon Chanel bag – while commencing her second day of engagements in Sweden. The Duchess has carried the covetable number before, while visiting Paris on royal business last spring, but we hazard a guess that won’t stop fans of the royal’s running out to splurge on a similar accessory.
Kate paired her bag with a red, houndstooth coat by Catherine Walker, an Alexander McQueen bouclé dress and fringed leather pumps from Tod’s.
A pair of oversized pearl earrings by Swedish jeweller In2Designer gave a diplomatic nod to her host country and polished off her fashion-forward outfit.
Crown Princess Victoria, 40, returned the gesture and carried a bag by British designer Stella McCartney. She paired the clutch with a pastel trouser suit and pink coat.
Up until recently, the Duchess has refrained from carrying bags – aside from small clutches. It could be that Meghan Markle – who’s been photographed with a number of bags that have gone on to sell out in mere minutes – has inspired Kate to accessorise more.
Prince Harry’s fiancée has carried styles from Edinburgh-based brand Strathberry, British luxe company DeMellier and French high-end label Chloé in recent months.
Today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are visiting the world-famous Karolinska Institute where they will learn about Sweden’s work in the field of mental health and children’s wellbeing, a subject very close to their hearts.
Also today, they will head to the NK department store, which receives around 12 million visitors each year. While there they will open an interactive exhibition of UK design, fashion and brands that operate in Sweden.
Later, the royal couple will join Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel for a private tea at Haga Palace, which is located within the picturesque setting of Haga Park.
The day will finish with an event at the Fotografiska Gallery, which has beautiful views over the city. If the weather is good the royal couple will travel there by boat.
Tomorrow, the pair will leave Sweden for Norway where they’ll stay until Friday.
