Duchess Meghan’s personal assistant has reportedly left her role after six months
The Duchess of Sussex’s team got a little bit smaller recently after one of her closest staff members reportedly gave up her position just six months after stepping in. Meghan’s personal assistant, Melissa, played an instrumental role in organizing their beautiful royal wedding in May and, though the reason she left is unknown, it’s believed that her resignation has something to do with the hectic nature of the job.
The majority of Melissa’s role was helping to organize Prince Harry and Meghan ’s schedules, organizing travel arrangements and managing their correspondence. According to a job advertisement for a personal assistant role within Kensington Palace, the job requirements read: "You'll also assist with the organisation of the official programme, providing logistical support in the planning and execution of engagements, attending recces and skillfully supporting official visits. It's a fast paced and high-profile environment, and you'll have responsibility from day one. Yet you'll rise to the challenge and will be proud of the part you play."

Melissa worked very closely with the duchess and a team of staff members who jointly keep the Sussexes’ royal roles organized. Amy Pickerill, the Suits alum’s assistant private secretary, is often spotted near the royal during engagements. Also included in the incredible team is Harry’s private secretary, formerly Ed Lane Fox, the couple’s advisor Sir David Manning, Kensington Palace communications secretary Jason Knauf and press officers Ciara Berry and Emily Rosselli.
Back in May, the mom-to-be had help settling into her new life as a royal by the Queen ’s special advisor, Samantha Cohen, who was Her Majesty’s assistant private secretary unti Sept. 2017. The Aussie, who worked with the royal family for 17 years, was a shoo-in to show the newly minted duchess the royal ropes and stuck around for Meghan’s first six months.
