I'm a shopping editor, and I'm wearing these $70 cargo pants on repeat this spring
If there's one style worth adding to your spring wardrobe, it's cargo pants.
Like it or not, the trend cycle will continue to revive looks from the past and bring them back into the fashion spotlight. This spring, cargo pants are the latest style making a major comeback, but they're not necessarily the utilitarian workwear you remember from years past.
These days, the classic pant has migrated from strictly casual wear to more versatile styles —including office-appropriate options.
Dynamite's Gemma Wide Leg Cargo Pants have become my go-to for spring, since their effortlessly chic style works well for both office and weekend wear. For my full review of these trousers, keep reading below.
Dynamite Gemma Wide Leg Cargo Pants
These wide-leg trousers have become my new go-to for the season as they're the perfect alternative to jeans or activewear, but not quite so stiff as many dress pant styles. They also feature a high rise, and are made from soft rayon fabric that hangs beautifully.
The pants retail for $70, and come in sizes 00 to 14. You can shop them in three colours: beige, grey, and green, which offers the same cut in a slightly different fabric.
Why I love them
As someone who often struggles with the fit of pants, I was happy to find that these actually have enough room through the hips and thighs while fitting at the waist — no need to size up or have them tailored. I'm also on the shorter side, so I can definitely appreciate that these cargo pants are available in both a short and a regular length.
I've been wearing them with graphic tees and striped tops, but I could just as easily see these pants pairing well with a button-up and blazer for a more professional look.
The main drawback
Aside from the lack of size inclusivity, the biggest downside in my opinion to these cargo pants is that the rayon fabric is prone to wrinkling. After sitting at my desk for a few hours, it's easy to see that the pants have started to wrinkle through the hips and thighs.
Personally, the wrinkles aren't a huge issue for me since I'm sitting at my desk most of the day anyways. However, if you would rather not deal with constant steaming or ironing to keep these pants looking fresh, they may not be the best choice for your lifestyle.
