New in Eagle: ‘Long-awaited’ restaurant opens; sheep ice cream and coffee shop debuts

Two new food-and-drink destinations have arrived in Eagle.

Local success story Paddles Up Poke and Negranti Creamery — a small ice cream chain with California and Idaho locations — are now calling the Boise suburb home.

Here’s the scoop:

Launching what it describes as “our long-awaited Eagle location,” Paddles Up Poke will debut Monday, June 10, at 78 E. Eagle River St., suite 115, next to Idaho Pizza Company in the Eagle River development.

Founded in downtown Boise in 2017, the quick-service restaurant has opened a Treasure Valley expansion location every year except 2023. It’s easy to see why. Paddles Up’s food is fresh and tasty, and portion sizes are solid.

Poke (pronounced “poh-kay”) is a dish composed of raw, marinated fish — served in customizable bowls or even as burritos. Paddles Up Poke’s health-focused options are combined with rice, veggies and sauces. Its menu also offers salads. Cooked protein options are gaining traction at Paddles Up, too.

Bring on the poke! (And other ingredients.) Paddles Up offers a customizable, scoop-and-serve experience.

The Eagle store plans to roll out the red carpet at 11 a.m. opening day with live music on the patio. The first 50 customers will receive a free “Keepin’ it Raw in Eagle, Idaho” shirt, free ice cream, a chance to win two box tickets for the Boise State football home opener, a $5 gift card for the next Paddles Up purchase, and other giveaway goodies. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 10:45 a.m. with Eagle Mayor Brad Pike.

Eagle’s Paddles Up Poke joins the original downtown Boise store, along with locations at Boise State University, and in downtown Nampa and The Village at Meridian.

Ice cream shop Negranti Creamery celebrated the grand opening of its first java-serving location Saturday. Negranti Creamery + Coffee is now scooping and pouring at 101 E. Riverside Drive, suite 101, next to the Hilton Garden Inn.

Family owned and operated, Negranti was founded more than a decade ago around a small California sheep dairy. The company says it was the first creamery in the nation to offer sheep’s milk ice cream at both the wholesale and retail levels. It also offers a traditional cow’s milk ice cream and sorbets (a vegan option).

Negranti Creamery + Coffee, which has already has a Boise location, also opened recently in Eagle.

The Eagle scoop shop features “a variety of beloved flavors, including fan favorites like Salted Brown Sugar, Black Coffee Chip, and Vanilla Bean,” according to a media release. “In addition, our coffee menu will include expertly brewed coffee drinks made from high-quality beans.”

The store is open at 7:30 a.m. daily.

Idaho’s other Negranti Creamery is at 777 W. Main St. in downtown Boise.
