New east-side Wichita gym celebrates grand opening
The new D1 Training East Wichita had a grand opening celebration Thursday with discounts, tours, demonstrations, the Flying Stove food truck and a bouncy house for kids.
Former NFL player Will Bartholomew founded the Nashville-based franchise in 2001. D1 stands for Division 1.
D1 is for kids 7 and older, teens and adults who are looking to improve in sports through an athletic-based fitness facility.
Developers Paul and Brian Suellentrop and their siblings, Jennifer Lines and David Suellentrop, are opening two D1 Training centers in Wichita.
The east-side D1 is at the Suellentrops’ Hawthorne Court at 12938 E. 21st St. just east of 127th Street.
The west-side one will open around the first of the year at their Shops at Avante at the northwest corner of 37th North and Ridge Road.
Pricing for the class-based workouts is done on a case-by-case basis according to need.
In addition to promoting self confidence, the Suellentrops said the businesses help athletes do better within their sports by honing speed, agility and endurance.
There’s also technology to track progress.
As Brian Suellentrop said in September when announcing the business, “What’s nice about that technology is you can see measurable success.”
