Halloween is just around the corner.

If you're a last-minute costume planner (or don't want to splurge on an expensive costume from a major store), read on to score some serious costume inspiration.

Want to know something even better? You can make these costumes with things you already own.

1. Holly Golightly from "Breakfast at Tiffany's"

Recreating Audrey Hepburn's iconic look is surprisingly easy, and you probably have everything you need in your closet.

Start with a little black dress. Layer on a pearl necklace and style your hair in a classic bun. Add some black heels and oversized sunglasses for a glamorous, effortless look.

Though you can pull off the costume without them, a pair of long, black gloves will give your costume top marks.

While most people think of Holly's sophisticated glitz, if you're looking for a more casual costume, you can easily create Holly's sleep costume. Put on an oversized white men's dress shirt, a pale blue sleep mask, and a pair of slippers. Hot glue some fluffy pompoms to the slippers, and you're ready to go.

2. A scarecrow

If you have a pair of overalls in the back of your closet, you have almost everything you need to create a last-minute scarecrow costume.

Pair your overalls with a straw hat and a flannel shirt. If your hair is long, you can style it in braids.

For added cuteness, you can use an eyebrow pencil to draw oversized freckles on your face.

Finally, you can push some straw into your pockets and let some peek out from the top of your overalls. Sneakers or boots will finish off the costume.

3. Steve from "Stranger Things"

"Stranger Things" season four was a huge hit, and characters from the show will be out in full force this Halloween.

Steve is one of the easiest ones to create from "Stranger Things." All you'll need is a green vest, a pair of baggy blue jeans and a light polo shirt. Style your hair in a '70s shag, and you're good to go.

If you don't have a green vest, you can also recreate another of Steve's most memorable looks without much effort. With a pair of light jeans, a grey jacket and a pair of yellow rubber gloves, you'll be channeling old-school Steve to perfection.

4. Jack from "The Shining"

Jack Torrance from the iconic horror film "The Shining" is a great (and easy) Halloween costume.

Start with a pair of dark jeans and a blue plaid button-up shirt. Add a lightweight dark red jacket (or oversized button-up shirt) on top.

A pair of boots and a crazed look in your eye will make you costume party ready in no time, but don't forget the most important element of the costume — an axe.

If you're looking for a couple costume, add Wendy Torrance into the mix with a light-coloured plaid button-up shirt and a green jumper. Pair the look with thick off-white stockings, Ugg-style boots and a baseball bat.

5. A black-eyed pea

Whether or not you're a fan of this classic southern legume (or the pop music group), a black-eyed pea makes a great costume that couldn't be easier to create.

Using a permanent marker or acrylic paint, paint a "P" on a white shirt. Then use eyeliner to draw and shade in a black circle around your eye. It's guaranteed to be a hit with anyone who loves puns.

6. A bubble bath

With balloons and a rubber duck, you can make a super cute bubble bath costume.

To start, blow up a bunch of balloons and attach them to your clothes with safety pins. Wear a white T-shirt and white leggings underneath.

Use a mix of solid white, clear and light pink balloons for the best results. Use rubber cement to attach the rubber duck to a balloon, since hot glue would pop the balloon. You can also attach a sponge, loofah or other lightweight bath accessories the same way.

7. A hippie

The best part about a hippie costume is its versatility. It's perfect for men, women or kids. You can dress it up or down.

To create this costume, mix and match the following elements to put together a personalized and easy Halloween costume out of elements you might already have on hand:

  1. Flare jeans

  2. Loose, flowing floral print dresses or jumpsuits

  3. Suede vests or boots

  4. Beaded anything

  5. Scarves

  6. Hats
