Edmonton Oilers star Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and wife welcome first baby: 'Precious angel'
The Nugent-Hopkins couple first announced the pregnancy back in March.
A Canadian hockey star and his wife have welcomed their first child.
Edmonton Oilers' player Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and wife Breanne Nugent-Hopkins (formerly Windle) have announced the birth of their daughter, Lennon Ayla.
Breanne shared a first photo to her Instagram on Thursday, revealing Lennon Ayla was born Aug. 19, weighing at seven pounds and nine ounces.
The baby was photographed sound asleep, wrapped in a floral blanket.
The couple's friends and followers were overjoyed with the news and rushed to the comments to congratulate the new parents.
An official account for the Edmonton Oilers wrote, "Congratulations!" along with orange and blue hearts — the team's official colours.
The wife of fellow Oilers star Connor McDavid also chimed in: "She's so so beautiful! So happy for you both. Can't wait to meet her!" wrote Lauren Kyle.
Chloe Skinner, the wife of the team's goaltender, called the baby a "precious angel" in the comments, adding, "So happy for you guys!"
Emma Barrie, who recently married NHLer Tyson Barrie, shared a personal note. "OMG you literally manifested this beautiful girl into the world! The name takes me back to first meeting you! Well done mama," Barrie added.
Nugent-Hopkins announced her pregnancy back in March, with an Instagram post of a baby onesie.
The onesie had "Baby Nuge" written in cursive, above her "August 2023" due date. Next to the onesie was an ultrasound photo of Lennon Ayla.
"Can't wait to meet you, baby," Nugent-Hopkins captioned the post, along with a white heart.
The comments were flooded with congratulatory messages.
"Us Oilers fans have been waiting for this for so long! Congrats Bre and Nuggy!," one excited fan wrote.
"How awesome! I'm so happy for you both—a little Nuge in the making," another added.
