I’m a flats or sneakers fan, through and through. I rarely wear sandals, regardless of how hot it is —it’s just kind of a personal preference I’ve always had.

However, when I saw Everlane’s latest shoe release, I knew that was going to change.

If you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of Everlane shoes, particularly their ultra-comfy Day Glove (After initially hating the glove shoe trend, I have six pairs of these). I’ve also got a few pairs of sneakers (the Tread Trainer are a wear-with-everything favourite), slingbacks and boots. But due to aforementioned hatred of sandals I’ve never really explored the brand’s open-toed offering, until a pair of brightly coloured mules caught my eye.

The Glove Mule in ReKnit popped up on my Instagram feed, and I was immediately smitten by the ‘90s vibe of these candy-coloured slip-ons. They come in five colours: classic black, bone (a cream colour), coral, toffee and and the perfectly pastel lilac, which is what I snapped up.

The sandals feature a leather-wrapped block heal and a knit upper, made from Everlane’s ReKnit fabric, which is probably the most divisive part of this shoe. If you’re not a fan of the knit texture, I’d suggest skipping this launch — but if you, like me, are yearning for something that’s a bit of a throwback style while remaining super comfy, these completely fit the bill.

They also feature the same cushioned insole and glove-like fit of the classic Day Glove — and plus, they’re made from five recycled water bottles, as part of the brand’s commitment to cutting down on waste.

So, how do they fit? I have flat feet with very little arch, so I was worried that these sandals might be uncomfortable. As much as I love my Day Glove flats, they typically do take a bit of breaking in for me due to their narrow width, so I was wondering if that might be the case for these, too.

But as soon as I slipped these on, the first thing I noticed was how insanely comfortable they were. The ReKnit fabric immediately molded to fit my foot perfectly. Combined with the cushy insole, these were basically the equivalent of walking on a cloud.

While I unfortunately haven’t had a chance to wear these outside yet (thank you, Canadian spring, for bringing me daytime highs of 0 C), I’ve been basically wearing them around the house like slippers — they’re that comfortable. And when/if warm weather finally arrives, I can’t wait to wear them with everything from jeans and cute blouses to flowing dresses.

If you’re looking to snag these cute mules for your own warm weather wardrobe, they’re available for $159 CAD — and you can shop them here.
