F. Scott Fitzgerald's final unfinished work is heading to the small screen this week.

Lesser known than the oft-adapted Gatsby or the tragic Tender Is the Night, The Last Tycoon, which centers around both the glamour and the intense rivalries of Hollywood's golden era, is being made into an Amazon Original series.

Matt Bomer (The Normal Heart, American Horror Story, Magic Mike) will play Monroe Stahr, a character loosely based on early American film producer Irving Thalberg. The period drama also stars Kelsey Grammer as Stahr's partner Pat Brady and Lily Collins as Brady's daughter, Celia, who, much to her father's chagrin, has ambitions of her own to enter the movie business.

The first trailer shows off the Gatsby-esque opulence we've come to expect from Fitzgerald while also teasing its dark consequences. As the tagline goes, "They created the Hollywood dream...but every dream has a price."

The Last Tycoon's pilot episode is available now on Amazon Prime. The other eight episodes of the show's first season will be available to stream on July 28.
