What to know about Harlan Coben's new Netflix show Netflix

Attention Harlan Coben fans! We may have only just solved the mystery of the crime writer's most recent Netflix series Missing You, but the streamer has already announced the next series based on Coben's work, get ready to become obsessed with Run Away.

Yesterday (21st January) Netflix shared the news another Coben series had been given the green light and will be lead by James Nesbitt, and wait for it, the icon that is Ruth Jones.

Just as excited as we are for this new series? Here's what you need to know about new series Run Away.

When was Run Away announced?

On 21st January, Netflix announced a new Harlan Coben series was officially in the works. They shared the update on their Instagram profile, with a picture of Harlan and series lead James Nesbitt holding the book the series is based on, Run Away.

Netflix wrote in the announcement: "We are excited for our next Harlan Coben runaway hit, RUN AWAY, starring James Nesbitt, Minnie Driver, Ruth Jones, and Alfred Enoch. Coming soon, only on Netflix."

In 2018 Coben signed a five year deal with Netflix to adapt his projects, and since then we've had the series Safe, The Stranger, The Woods, The Innocent, Gone for Good, Stay Close, Hold Tight, Fool Me Once and Missing You.

What is the plot of Run Away?

Run Away will be based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Coben, but like the rest of Coben's British adaptations, the series will be moved from it's American setting to a British one.

The series will follow Simon Greene, who seemingly has the perfect life - a great family, loving wife and a good job, however his world gets turned upside down when his eldest daughter Paige runs away from home.

Who will star in Run Away?

Along with announcing the new series, Netflix also confirmed the series cast, which includes James Nesbitt as the series lead Simon Greene, Minnie Driver as Simons' wife Ingrid Greene, Ruth Jones as Elena Ravenscroft, and Alfred Enoch as Isaac Fagbenle.

Fans will be disappointed to learn that Richard Armitage, who has traditionally starred in a number of Coben adaptations will not be returning this time around. Yeah, honestly, we need some time to process this information.

Other cast members include Lucian Msamati as Cornelius Faber, Jon Pointing as Ash, Ellie de Lange as Paige Greene, Adrian Greensmith as Sam Greene and Ellie Henry as Anya Greene.

When can we expect to see Run Away?

So far all Netflix has announced is the series is "coming soon". Filming for the series begins this January in and around Manchester.

Given the last two series have been released on New Year's Day in consecutive years, we wouldn't be surprised if we'd also see Run Away on our screens on New Year's Day in 2026.

Nearly a whole year to wait? We're hoping the next 11 months go quickly.
