Everything we know about the Twilight TV seriesSummit Entertainment

If, like us, you couldn’t get enough of the Twilight series of books or movies, it looks like it’s time to go back to Forks, Washington, as a TV reboot is coming to our screens.

This isn’t the first massively successful movie series to be turned into a TV show recently and it appears that it won’t be the last. Just this week a TV version of Harry Potter was confirmed, while The Lord of the Rings became a series that premiered on Amazon Prime Video at the end of 2022. But, let’s just say, Twilight getting a reboot was not on our bingo card for 2023.

I mean, can anyone replace Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen? We will have to wait and see.

But here’s what we know about the TV series so far…

When was the Twilight reboot announced?

This Wednesday (19th April) The Hollywood Reporter announced that a TV version of author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling book series is in early development with Lionsgate Television.

Lionsgate released the original movies but a new scriptwriter, Sinead Daly (who worked on Tell Me Lies, Raised by Wolves and The Walking Dead: World Beyond) will be determining how they handle the source material on the small screen.

Author Stephenie Meyer is also said to be involved.

It is not yet known which channel or TV network will ultimately win the rights to the reboot.

Who will be cast in the Twilight TV series?

As of now, we don’t have any casting information but it seems unlikely that any of the original stars will reprise their roles.

Given that the reboot will be looking to capture the attention of a new audience, as well as fans of the original franchise, we expect that younger actors will be stepping into the famous shoes of Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, Jacob Black and more.

What is Twilight about?

In case you weren't a Twilight fan back in the day, over the course of four books (and three companion novels) we see Bella struggle with who to choose: the enigmatic vampire Edward or her best friend Jacob (who just so happens to be Edward's enemy and a werewolf). It is quite the love triangle, to say the least! Then she has to decide whether to remain human or become immortal. It would be a lot for any high school student, really.

But we wonder if the TV show will add a spin to the story that we didn't see in the movies. Only time will tell.

Who else will be counting down the days until it hits our screens?
