EXCLUSIVE: Ferrari Celebrates U.S. Anniversary With F1 Miami Grand Prix Fashion Collection Inspired by South Beach’s Art Deco Scene

In celebration of 70 years of Ferrari cars in the American market and coinciding with the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, Ferrari is releasing a limited-edition Miami capsule collection.

The capsule collection comprises a mix of menswear, womenswear and accessories by Ferrari’s creative director, Rocco Iannone. Many signature motifs of Miami such as the architecture and design of the 20th-century Art Deco neighborhood in South Beach and the heritage of American racing are seen throughout the collection.

Notably, the Miami Grand Prix was a major source of inspiration for Iannone — the asphalt curves and esses of the track’s circuit are visible in the silhouettes, printed on the draped silks and embroidered on the ultra suede fabrics.

“Miami is a city that offers an eclectic mix of vibrant city life and calming ocean and marina views,” Iannone told WWD. “Add in all the creativity and the design that the city has to offer and it’s hard not to feel inspired. Miami is filled with extraordinary light and this plays into the sophisticated designs and innovative materials used for this capsule.”

Iannone stated that when working with a company that bears the Ferrari name, a name synonymous with being world-class, it’s inevitable that this collection would merge tradition and innovation — just as the sports car company does.

“Desire, passion, longing, speed and Italian excellence are forever present in everything I approach.”

He notes that the traditional side comes from the racing elements of patches worn on the Ferrari driver uniforms and embroidery, whilst innovation comes from Iannone’s choice of fabrics. This collection also will be the first time the Ferrari fashion brand will use the Ferrari logo in its clothing, rather than the classic yellow shield.

“For this capsule, I pulled on the creative heritage of Formula 1 with special details representing the circuit of Miami, precious interpretations and reimagined patches from drivers’ uniforms transformed into luxurious applications,” Iannone said. “I love playing with these juxtapositions, workwear becomes evening wear and racing patches are elevated to a signature accessory.”

Iannone also created a one-of-a-kind collectors item iridescent crystal, “Ocean Dream,” in sea green for the brand’s signature Maranello clutch — in the shape of the iconic sports car’s silhouette. The clutch is created using the same technique when manufacturing the newest Ferrari cars, at the same company headquarters in Maranello, Italy.

Additionally, two new clutch colors in “Azzurro Dino” and “Azzuro La Plata,” reference the racing history of Maranello and the Ferrari 296 GTS cars from the early 1970s. Legendary driver Alberto Ascari, Ferrari’s first Formula 1 world champion, wore the “Azzuro La Plata” hue when he won his titles in 1952 and 1953.

Coinciding with the Ferrari’s 70th anniversary, Iannone notes that the creation of the collection is part of a full-circle moment for Ferrari to celebrate. The weekend will see all three of Ferrari’s arms converge.

The Formula 1 race cars driving at the Grand Prix, its automotive business arm hosting a Ferrari owners gala at the Faena Hotel to mark the release of two new models and a new fashion collection will all come together for the first time in Miami.

Recently, Ferrari’s Formula 1 team also inked a multiyear title sponsorship deal with HP, ahead of seven-time world Lewis Hamilton joining the Ferrari team in 2025. This year’s Ferrari drivers, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, will also debut special Azzurro blue-hued race suits, a new race car livery for the Miami weekend and drive two new 296 GTS in the colors “Azzurro Dino” and “Azzuro La Plata”.

Ferrari’s Miami capsule collection will be available by appointment from Thursday to Sunday at the penthouse suite of the Faena Hotel Miami Beach; the brand is taking over the hotel for the entirety of the weekend. The Maranello new clutch colors will be available in a limited series of only nine pieces each. The collection will be available to purchase online from the Ferrari U.S. store beginning Monday and worldwide from May 13.
