“Our ultimate long-term vision is to become that go-to brand for all things sexual and reproductive health care among the full life cycle of a woman’s health journey,” said Wisp chief executive officer Monica Cepak.

With this in mind, the brand regularly surveys its customers about what products, services or categories they would want to see next. In a recent survey, the company found that 70 percent of customers were interested in fertility education, products and services, either currently or in the future.

“It’s an interesting space to play in because most people just default to IVF…which is incredibly costly,” Cepak said.

According to Fertility IQ, one round of IVF can cost on averag more than $23,000, depending on location, and some patients require multiple rounds. The National Institutes of Health reports that 9 percent of men and 11 percent of women in the U.S. have had a fertility issue.

“There’s a white space in the pre-IVF stage where women can explore a variety of different options to help them conceive, avoiding that costly IVF journey,” she said, adding this includes insemination kits, supplements and at-home tests, which the brand is offering through a partnership with testing company Proov. “Most women don’t even know that these products exist.”

As a second phase, the company will launch prescription ovulation medications in the third quarter, which will include progesterone, clomid and letrozole, as well as at-home blood draws and consultations with a provider. The brand will also roll out a custom prenatal formula in the third quarter. Depending upon the treatment, patients can opt for same-day pharmacy pickup or free shipping in all 50 states.

“Being able to offer women a more holistic offering with a variety of different options is what we consistently heard from our patients,” Cepak said, adding that men make up about 10 percent of their customer base, primarily shopping the herpes solution category. However, the Proov fertility kit also tests men.

While fertility is the focus right now, the brand is also planning to invest in the menopause category and eventually offer hormone replacement therapy.

“We want to be there for a woman at that first birth control prescription and then stay with her, whether it’s through her fertility journey trying to conceive to HRT and menopause,” Cepak said.
