What does Claudia Winkleman do for exercise?

Lots and lots of walking

Speaking honestly about her, well, dislike for most exercise, Claudia said on Gabby Logan's podcast, Mid Point, that she thinks she might be 'allergic' to working out and is disappointed when the results aren't instant.

"I don't like sweating. I don't like movement," she said. "I think you have to move a lot to see a difference and I’m too impatient. I want to go twice and feel like Elle Macpherson. The moment they say you'll see a difference in three months, I'm out."

Instead, the presenter gets her stroll on – something she enjoyed doing with her family during lockdown, telling Marie Claire: "We discovered our local park, but we also did lots of urban walking as we don't have a garden where we are. We were literally just pounding the streets of London looking at the blue plaques."

Spin classes

Although Claudia admits she's fallen out of the habit since, there was a period of time that she was spinning and winning, saying she loved the darkness of the spin studio and the loud club-like music. "I am obsessed by [the spin studio] Psycle," she told Get The Gloss back in 2017, and saying during another chat with the Express that the "very loud music and being shouted at was somehow erotic".

Claudia also says she loves spinning because you're quite literally attached to the bike, meaning it's impossible to give up halfway through. "I'm locked into the bike, so I can't leave. Because anything else, I will leave. I don't like sweating, I don't like pain, I can't get my head around any of it."

What is Claudia Winkleman's diet like?

Avocado toast

Chatting to Get The Gloss about her favourite way to kick off a day, Claudia said she's a fan of the green stuff. "For breakfast, I could live off avocados, but I actually wake up not very hungry." As for lunch, when asked what she'd prepare for a guest, she quipped, "I would make some sort of pasta dish that you'd wish I never offered."

She's mindful of sugar

Too much sugar can have negative repercussions, from tooth decay to weight gain according to the NHS, so Claudia is mindful of her intake. During a joint HELLO! interview with her Strictly co-host Tess Daly, Tess said Claudia doesn't have a sweet tooth.

"Claudia doesn't do sugar. But that might not surprise you. She's like the polar opposite of me, I've always got a bag of Haribo somewhere about my person," says Daly. "I've never seen her eat a sweet. She'll eat cake, though."

It's recommended that adults have no more than 30g of free sugars in their diet per day.

A balanced approach

In a world where harmful diet culture rhetoric can sadly still dominate, Claudia has made it clear that she's not time for any of it – especially not the term 'cheat meal'.

"I don’t think it should be called a cheat meal. Then what are the other meals? We all have to be careful about the way we talk about it," she's previously wisely shared. "What is my favourite meal of all time? Roast chicken, roast potatoes, horseradish, buttery peas, a cheese board that will include Gorgonzola, and then probably tiramisu."

Caffeine is out

While many of us can't even consider a morning without a cup of coffee, for Claudia it's a hard no. "I don’t actually drink caffeine," she revealed during a chat with SheerLuxe. "I think I had some in about 1998 and was awake for three days. I don't like feeling frenzied or like I'm on a rollercoaster, so if I do have coffee, I only drink decaf. Failing that, it's usually Ribena Light."

What is Claudia Winkleman's wellness routine?

She's a CBD fan

As an ambassador for the CBD brand Cannaray, Claudia has been super open about her love of CBD, which reportedly helps with an array of issues from easing anxiety to encouraging better sleep. As for her favourite product, the TV host says she loves a CBD-infused vitamin D3, vitamin C and zinc combined supplement.

"My favourite thing is the capsules, because I just know internally they're doing their magic. I get a huge return with very little effort. Everything's just sorting itself out and I don't even need to get involved," she joked. "They make me less panicky about the fact that I don't really believe in a tomato."

Naps, naps and more naps

In her book, Quite, Claudia sings the praises of a daytime nap to the high heavens. She also got stuck in to the topic of sleep on The Emma Guns Show podcast, saying she's having to work hard at curbing her snooze habit, "I'm not that busy, and I do like napping. I've had to stop having two naps a day as I was no longer sleeping at night, that's what happened when I turned 46. I love a nap. Yesterday I thought, 'I don't even need a nap, but I'm going to have one'."
