Fashion Trust Arabia to Host Annual Prize Ceremony in Morocco in October
Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) will move its annual star-studded event honoring Arab emerging design talent from Doha, Qatar, to Marrakech, WWD has learned.
The annual prize under the patronage of Honorary Chair Sheikha Moza bint Nasser of Qatar and cochairs Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani and Tania Fares honors top emerging designers from the Middle East annually across six different categories. The award ceremony, which attracts high-profile fashion figures from across the globe, is part of the larger platform for Arab designers providing financial support, guidance and mentorship to creatives from the Middle East and North Africa.

Speaking to WWD, Fares, cofounder of Fashion Trust, said the transition to hosting the event in Marrakech is reflective of the platform’s focus on diversity and inclusion. “It reflects our commitment to expanding our reach and fostering cultural exchange within the region. Marrakech has a very vibrant heritage and dynamic atmosphere that provides an ideal backdrop for celebrating Arab creativity and talent. By hosting the FTA Prize in Morocco, we can amplify the platform’s impact and showcase the diversity of Arab fashion to a global audience.”
The ceremony for the FTA Prize 2024 to be held in October will welcome guests from around the world to explore and celebrate Moroccan cultural heritage. Exact program details will be announced at a later date. The FTA Prize ceremony is part of a yearlong partnership between Qatar and Morocco that highlights their shared commitment to supporting Arab culture and nurturing talent through long-lasting cultural partnerships across many disciplines from art to fashion.
“We are excited about the opportunities this move presents and look forward to a successful event in Marrakech,” said Fares. This year will also see the launch of a seventh category, The Fashion Tech Award 2024.
