FDA Announces Health Advisory on Walmart Broccoli Sold in 20 States Due to Possible Listeria

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), California’s Braga Fresh has issued a voluntary health advisory regarding a single production lot of washed and ready-to-eat broccoli sold at Walmart under the store’s Marketside label. The 12-ounce bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets may be contaminated with listeria. Multiple random samples from a Texas store yielded positive lab results.

The broccoli listed under the precautionary advisory was sold at Walmart stores in the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

To date, no illnesses have been reported.

How to Identify the Affected Marketside Broccoli

The broccoli has a best-if-used-by date of Dec 10. 2024. It is no longer on store shelves, but it may still be in consumer’s refrigerators or freezers. The affected packing is labeled with the following identification:

  • UPC: 6 81131 32884 5 (on the back of the bag)

  • Lot Code: BFFG327A6 (on the front of the bag)

  • Best-if-used-by date: Dec 10, 2024

What to Do if You Have the Affected Product in Your Home
