At first glance, I thought Blake Lively's XXL bouffant hair was a live cat
Perhaps I'm overly obsessed with the creatures but when scrolling down my Instagram feed to see a new image of Blake Lively, I almost mistook her extra, extra large bouffant updo for a live cat. Purr, I guess...?
Shared on Instagram earlier this afternoon [July 7, 2024] via the brand's account, Vogue USA announced that Blake is their latest cover star, donning the September issue front and centre.
Now, as many will already know, September is one of the highest seasons for fashion, however, what initially caught our attention was not the glistening jewels or silky gown but the ginormous hair. Of course, the jewels and her outfit do give high glamour but the hair is even higher! I'm talking XXL, people.
"For Vogue’s September 2024 issue, Lively’s very favourite director, Baz Luhrmann, drops her (and her friend Hugh Jackman) into a sublimely elegant, Hitchcock-inspired fashion fantasia, while Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Andrew Sean Greer meets the irrepressible, irresistible star on location in Rome, during production on the as-yet-untitled sequel to “A Simple Favor,” the publication wrote.
For such an otherworldly concept (Baz is a creative genius, after all), only the best in the biz was recruited to take on Blake's trademark hair. So, natch, L’Oréal Paris celebrity hairstylist Jennifer Yepez worked with the story and Blake to create the above bouffant updo. (Her IG resumé speaks for itself, FYI.)
As we can only assume from the above image, Jen has teased the actor's locks to the max to create a bouffant body of hair, before setting it under with a slight curl to create a shoulder-length flick. And that flick is certainly one fit for a feline... In other words, at first glance, Blake's hair looks like a cat, wouldn't you agree?!
Someone hand me a comb and some strong-hold hairspray for I must recreate such artwork. I have a reputation (read: title of 'world's most enthusiastic cat lady') to uphold...
