I have yet to try a subpar Sunday Riley product. The skin care brand, which has even garnered Oprah’s approval, has been a constant in my routine for years, despite having tried thousands of skin care lines.
Perhaps you’re familiar with Sunday Riley’s smash hits, like its Luna Sleeping Oil, or Oprah’s pick, the Good Genes Lactic Acid Serum. I love the biggies as much as any fan does, but I’m currently gaga for a sleeper hit: the Ice Ceramide Moisturizing Cream. I slotted the cream into my routine the second I swapped shorts for sweaters, and it’s been among the most effective antidotes for seasonal skin issues I’ve ever used.
Sunday Riley Ice Ceramide Moisturizing Cream
Sunday Riley’s Ice moisturizer is a soothing, softening, protective barrier cream. Formulated for all skin types—including ultra-sensitive and rosacea-prone—the formula shields skin from damaging external forces, fights flakiness, diminishes dryness, and bestows serious TLC to chapped, winter-worn skin.
As for ingredients: Ceramides diminish dryness and revoke rough texture. Specifically, they strengthen the skin barrier—the outermost layer responsible for maintaining hydrated, healthy skin. (Icy weather, among other external factors, can damage the barrier, leading to dryness, redness, and flaking.) The moisturizer also features vitamin F—a moisture-locking lipid that doubles down on the formula’s smoothing effects. Finally, coconut, beetroot, and pomegranate extracts attract moisture to replenish withered skin and impart a subtle glow.
Ingredients aside, my complexion—currently velvety, calm, and flake-free, despite whipping winds—is a testament to the moisturizer’s efficacy. Texturally, its formula is lighter than most barrier creams I’ve tried. Its less-occlusive, more breathable skin-feel makes it pleasant to apply, and proves calming creams needn’t feel suffocating to work. Moreover, the formula wears smoothly, sans pilling, beneath makeup. For these reasons, I actually look forward to applying the cream twice per day.
Incidentally, the brand suggests slathering its formula post-flight to combat airplane-induced dryness. It’s an excellent idea and an incentive for me to buy my beloved moisturizer in its $21 travel-sized rendition.
