After 18 months of working from home, I splurged on the Flexispot Standing Desk: Here's what I thought

Having accepted the fact that after 18 months of working from home with no immediate end in sight, I knew that my workstation was in need of some definite improvements. In order to create a more versatile desk area, I decided to try out one of Flexispot's convertible desk solutions.

What is the Flexispot Standing Desk?

First impressions

Since I'm usually at my desk for at least 10 hours a day, having one that also doubles as a standing desk gave me the flexibility to move around a bit while standing and working.

This desk changed my whole work from home routine, since while standing, I was able to do simple stretching exercises and work towards my daily 10,000 steps — a goal that sadly hasn't been achieved since before the pandemic began.

Having my desired desk heights saved was the most convenient feature of this desk, since all I had to do was switch a button.

What are reviewers saying?

Though this exact model hasn't yet received any customer reviews on Amazon, according to the Flexispot site this desk has earned a near-perfect rating from over 200 reviews.

"I've had this for months now and am really impressed. I use it M-F as I work from home," reads on review. "It's a little more expensive than a nice desktop unit but is 10 times greater bang for your buck. For starters, it's a big flat desktop and it is 100% usable as it's rectangular and not some strange curvy thing."

Another reviewer said: "I was looking for the 'perfect' desk. This comes pretty close. I love that I can sit or stand whenever I want. I have the 4 foot wide desk and it's plenty large enough for two monitors if you wanted."

Despite all of the positive feedback on this versatile sit-stand desk, many reviewers were quick to note that the instructions can be complicated to follow, so you'll want to allow for plenty of time in order to assemble it correctly.

Verdict

So far, I love this standing desk. Instead of sitting for hours at a time, I can now move around and complete my work. Before the pandemic, I wouldn't have thought about the need for a convertible desk, but now it's definitely the most useful product in my home office.

Like other reviewers, my only issue was assembling it. It required some considerable time and effort, and took three hours with the help of my dad. There was some drilling involved, and the user manual wasn't the most efficient and easy to use.

However, once I got the assembly out of the way, this desk has been a life saver for my home office. Not only is it a convenient piece of furniture for those who are working from home, it would be a great recommendation for students heading back to school too.
