Florence Pugh channels Y2K party style in shimmering chainmail minidress
Have we been transported back to the turn of the millennium? That’s what it felt like when we saw Florence Pugh’s Y2K-inspired dress, and we're enjoying this fashion callback.
The Don’t Worry Darling actor recently collaborated with English singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri on a new project, and the pair teased the forthcoming release in an Instagram video. In the clip, Pugh dances alongside Chinouriri while wearing a sparkly metallic mesh minidress.
The chainmail design recalled some of the most memorable looks of the early 2000s, like Paris Hilton’s iconic 21st birthday dress from 2002. Pugh’s rose-gold dress had hints of pink throughout, and included thick halter-top straps that contrasted with the rest of the dress, thanks to their white snakeskin pattern. The piece also featured a cowl neckline and a split skirt down the centre, which had a square of fabric underneath.
For jewellery, Pugh accessorised with a gold pendant necklace cut in the shape of half a heart. Her dancing partner, Chinouriri, wore a matching necklace representing the other half. We got a better look at their ensembles in photos captured by photographer Lauren Harris.
The singer Chinouriri teased a new song in the caption of her video, although it’s unclear whether Pugh sings on the track or appears in the video. The Oscar-nominated star is best known for her acting, she has contributed vocals to several songs in the past, including Flyte’s “Tough Love” and her brother Toby Sebastian’s “Midnight.” Meanwhile, Pugh also sang on two of the tracks for the soundtrack to her film A Good Person.
