From Shamrocks to Rainbows, 10 Fun St. Patrick's Day Crafts for Kids

March 15, 2012

March 17 is St. Patrick's Day -- an excuse to celebrate all things Irish (and to drink a green beer!), and the day when many people honor the patron saint of Ireland. (Much of what we've been told about St. Patrick, including that story about banishing the snakes from Ireland, is pure blarney. But he did help instill Christianity in the country.)  Whether you're actually Irish or not, you can help your kids get in the shamrock spirit with these fun, easy craft projects:

Your kids will love making -- and wearing -- these adorable St. Patrick's Day popsicle stick bracelets from Momtastic.

Little kids will be fascinated to learn that by painting half a rainbow and folding the paper, a full rainbow will (magically!) appear on the paper. Get the instructions for making this cheery print at Alphamom.

We love this wee little leprechaun bookmark from sweet and lovely crafts. (It would also made an adorable gift tag for a tot with a St. Patrick's Day birthday.)

We love how this craft makes kids reflect and write, too. Have your kids describe how lucky they are and plant their wishful thoughts in a clover patch from Lisa Storms.
