Future dad Prince Harry shows off dog training skills in Dubbo

Prince Harry is a man who wears many hats! Not only is he a military veteran, a loving husband and a doting father-to-be, but he can also be counted as a dog whisperer. On day two of his royal tour Down Under with wife Meghan Markle, Harry tried his hand at training a sheep-herding dog – and it was a major success!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were paying a visiting to Victoria Park in the rural city of Dubbo, Australia for a community picnic. Flexing his skill and canine prowess, Harry guided the sweet black dog over the high fence with ease, much to the delight of the crowd watching, who clapped and cheered for him. Meghan, of course, was not far behind, watching with a huge smile on her face.

But that wasn’t the only puppy love they experienced that day! While socializing at the picnic, the two dog lovers also met a huge white pooch, with whom they clearly fell head-over-heels in love. They both spent some time chatting with the dog’s little owners while petting him. The Sussexes surely miss their own dogs back home – Meghan’s longtime companion Guy, who made the move with her to London, and their new rescue lab. Perhaps they’ll be adding an Australian pup to their family one day?

Royal tours are always packed full of incredible meetings with political figures, inspiring locals and, of course, adorable youngsters encountered during walkabouts. But some of our favourite moments are when the royals make furry friends … and Prince Harry and Meghan have met their fair share since getting engaged! During their first official trip together, a two-day visit to Ireland , the couple visited with Irish president Michael Higgins and his wife, Sabina Coyne. While at their official residence, the parents-to-be made friends with their two beautiful Burmese Mountain Dogs, who followed them around during their tour of the grounds.

These tender moments are made all the sweeter following the couple’s exciting pregnancy news , which was released on Oct. 15 by Kensington Palace in a statement which read: "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019. Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.” Given that Meghan and Harry are passionate dog lovers, we’re willing to bet baby Sussex will have a soft spot for pups, too.
