Gigi Hadid is this close to holding the record for most Vogue covers
Gigi Hadid thought she made it big when she landed her first ever American Vogue cover in 2016. But just two years later, at the age of 23, the young supermodel is on her way to beating the record number of times one individual has been on the cover of Vogue worldwide.

On Monday, Hadid took to Instagram to share the June 2018 cover of Vogue Australia, featuring a photo of herself in an eclectic look and words that read “Break the Rules.” Fans, however, were quick to point out that it should read “break the record,” as the photo marks the 35th of Hadid on a Vogue cover.
“This is so major!” one fan wrote in a tweet alongside a collage of all of Hadid’s covers. Another pointed out that Hadid is “heading towards having forty!”

As it turns out, 40 might just be the magic number, as it’s the number of covers that feature Lauren Hutton, who holds the record. After being acknowledged as the quintessential all-American supermodel in the ’70s, Hutton was chosen to be on the cover of American Vogue 26 times by the time the publication turned 125. But after subsequently being named Vogue‘s oldest cover star when she graced Vogue Italia in October 2017, at nearly 74 years old, it was announced that Hutton had 27 covers for the American publication alone and a collective 40 worldwide.

But Hutton and Hadid aren’t the only two people to have been on the cover of many editions of Vogue. It has been something that’s been brought up in the past, as a number of celebrities and models grace multiple Vogue covers — whether U.S. or worldwide — in a short period of time. From Lupita Nyong’o, who scored four U.S. Vogue covers within three-and-a-half years, to Bella Hadid, who was on five different Vogue covers worldwide within the same month (September, nonetheless), it seems to be a pattern.
I am simply in love, I loved your photos for Vogue Australia (@vogueaustralia), you are as stunning and amazing as ever. I love being your fan and following your career, supporting your work, I love you so much @GiGiHadid ❤️😻. Congrats on your 35 covers for vogue!!! pic.twitter.com/Y1X42vrG7o

Regardless of the business behind these decisions, fans of Gigi Hadid are ecstatic to see her making it so far, while remaining so humble. “I’m not the greatest at modeling — obviously!” says Hadid. Thirty-five Vogue covers have a different opinion about that.
